McCrary retires as president, CEO of William Barnet & Son

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – William Barnet & Son, LLC, a synthetic fiber/yarn/polymer firm with plants and/or offices in the Americas, Europe and Asia, announced the retirement of Chairman and CEO William “Bill” V. McCrary Jr., effective April 1.
McCrary’s successor has not yet been announced.
McCrary joined the company in 1970 and advanced in the company. He became CEO in 2001 and was elected chairman in 2017.
He has also served in a leadership capacity on a variety of boards, including roles as chairman of the National Council of Textile Organizations (NCTO), chairman of the American Fiber Manufacturers Association (AFMA) and chairman of the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance (SCMA), where he was the 2016 recipient of the Roger Milliken Defender of Manufacturing Award.
McCrary is a member of the Palmetto Business Forum and a graduate of Duke University. Recently, he has spent more time focusing on and supporting various projects in the Greenville, S.C., community, including the McCrary Blood and Marrow Transplant Unit at the Greenville Hospital System that opened in 2017 and the Phase II expansion of Cancer Survivors Park.
Last year, the SCMA and the NCTO joined the company in recognizing McCrary for celebrating 50 years of employment in the U.S. textile industry with William Barnet & Son, LLC. The South Carolina State Senate also issued a congratulatory resolution presented to McCrary for his career long involvement and commitment to the South Carolina manufacturing industry.
“Bill McCrary’s career has centered around a commitment to excellence that has had an incredible impact on his company, employees, community and South Carolina’s manufacturing industry,” said Sara Hazzard, president and CEO of the SCMA, at the time of the McCrary’s recognition. “Bill knows firsthand that American manufacturing drives economic opportunity and commerce, and his remarkable career and dedicated service highlights how strong leadership can transform communities for the better. We are thankful for all that Bill has accomplished during his time with William Barnet & Son, LLC and wish him the best in all of his future endeavors.”
