The North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC) announced the placement of Mark Mills as Business Development manager and professional, and the opening of a new service location at Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC) in Hickory, N.C.
Serving businesses statewide, Mills will identify contract opportunities, source them to businesses across the state and provide one-on-one assistance to help businesses in the region compete for, win and grow jobs through federal contracts. Specifically, he will monitor contract opportunities from the Defense Logistics Agency, Clothing & Textiles and textile-related solicitations.
Mills is also responsible for working one-on-one with North Carolina businesses in Catawba, Alexander, Ashe, Alleghany, Burke, Caldwell, Watauga and Wilkes counties. In this capacity, Mills will help existing businesses to identify, bid on and compete for federal contracts.
Prior to joining the NCMBC, Mills served as the program director for the PTAC, where he directed a team of 10 procurement counselors at eight different universities within the UNC System. Mills served as the PTAC counselor at Appalachian State University for eight years prior to becoming the program director, and has over 19 years of experience providing procurement assistance to North Carolina businesses seeking contracting opportunities with local, state and federal governments.
A military veteran, Mills has 27 years of military management and leadership experience, including 13 years of uniformed service with the United States Air Force and the Army National Guard, and subsequent service with the PTAC and the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA).
